Assamesischer Schwarztee

Assamese Black Tea

Botanically known as Camellia sinensis var. Assamica , is a type of tea that originates from the Assam region in northeast India. This region is one of the largest tea-growing areas in the world and is known for its high-quality black teas.

Look

The tea plant Assamica is an evergreen shrub or small tree that has larger leaves than the Chinese tea plant Camellia sinensis var. sinensis. The leaves are dark green, shiny and elongated. Black tea is made by fermenting the tea leaves, which gives them a dark, almost black color.

Taste and Aroma

Assamese black tea has a strong, malty and full-bodied taste with a dark, reddish-brown color. The aroma is rich and strong, often with notes of honey, spices and sometimes slightly earthy tones. This tea has a higher caffeine content compared to other types of tea.
